Kauppila accepts NCAA offer

Jake Kauppila returned to the BCHL this season in search of a college hockey opportunity and in helping Trail win six of their past eight, good news has come his way.

Bentley University in Waltham, Mass. will be the NCAA Div. I hockey home for Kauppila starting next season.

The native of Gurnee, Illinois has nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points in 36 games so far this season. He split the 2013-14 season between Alberni Valley and Trail and registered 14 goals and 22 assists that season. He played last year in the United States Hockey League.

Bentley University competes in the NCAA’s Atlantic Hockey Association against schools such as Air Force, Robert Morris, RIT, Holy Cross and Niagara.

There are six BCHL graduates on the Bentley roster this season: TJ Dumonceaux, Andrew Gladiuk, Jayson Argue, Andy Chugg, Max French and Cody DePourcq.
