The Powell River Kings began their three-game road trip to finish the year with a 3-1 win over the Nanaimo Clippers and, with Surrey losing to Westside, they can claim a #1 seed with just a split of their final two games.
Powell River got the winning goal from Daniel Schuler to go up 2-0 early in the third. Kyle Kramer's 29th goal of the season came shortly after but was Nanaimo's only goal of the game. Cohen Adair scored his 30th of the season into an empty net to seal the win for the Kings.
A comeback effort led by Malcolm Gould and Mathieu Tibbet earned the Chilliwack Chiefs a point in a 6-6 road tie with the Coquitlam Express. A pair of Brady Shaw goals and singles by Justin Georgeson and Jace Hennig put the Express up 4-0 midway through the second but Chilliwack responded with three goals in 2:40. Coquitlam went up 6-3 in the third after another Georgeson goal but again they couldn't hang on. Tibbet scored twice more and Gould completed his hat trick with eight seconds left to force OT.
The Westside Warriors got 40 saves from Dwayne Rodgrigue and two goals from Max French to take a 4-2 road win over the Surrey Eagles. Steve Koshey opened the scoring for Surrey in the first but David Pope and Marcus Basara answered in the second. Alex Hagen tied it for the Eagles but French scored the winner shortly after and added an empty-netter late in the third.
Mario Lucia's hat trick keyed a 42nd straight win for the Penticton Vees in an 8-5 road triumph over the Prince George Spruce Kings. PG led 5-4 going into the third getting two goals from Michael Colantone but markers by Wade Murphy and Steven Fogarty in the first 3:40 of the third put the Vees ahead for good. Joey Benik and Paul De Jersey had a goal each and remain tied for the BCHL lead with 95 points apiece.
Matthew Grant scored twice for the Cowichan Valley Capitals in a wild first period in Alberni Valley as the Caps took a 9-5 win. The teams combined for eight goals in the first 20 minutes, five by the Caps. Brett Knowles and Devin Gannon each got their second of the game in the third period while Alex Grupe and Hunter Stewart each had two assists for the Bulldogs.
Goals from six different players, including the first BCHL goal for Scott Patterson, led the Merritt Centennials to a 6-2 road win over the Trail Smoke Eaters. Evan Stack's 31st of the season put the Cents up 4-0 after two. Connor Tiechko and Garrett McMullen got the Smokies goals in the third.
Colton Cyr's OT winner gave the Vernon Vipers a 4-3 home win over the Salmon Arm SilverBacks. Adam Tambellini first period goal for the Vipers held until the third when Myles McCauley and Travis Stephens scored for the 'Backs. Vernon retook the lead on Michael Zalewski's 37th but McCauley tied it again with 21 seconds left which set the stage for Cyr.
Leads changed multiple times in Victoria but it was the Grizzlies taking a 5-4 win over the Langley Rivermen on Myles Powell's winner with less than a minute to go. Chase Kaiser and Michael Sandor put the Grizz up 2-0 after one but Austin Plevy and Mario Puskarich, with two, replied for Langley in the second. Kaiser got his second of the game in the third period and CJ Lillies restored the Victoria lead before Mike Tebbutt's equalizer for Langley. Powell then converted a Mark McClellan feed at 19:10.
