The Streak is no longer. The Prince George Spruce Kings scored three goals in the third period to take a 5-2 home win over the Penticton Vees, stopping the visitors' incredible winning streak at 42.
With the game tied 2-2 heading into the third, Myles Fitzgerald popped the winner at 7:16 of the final frame before a pair of goals by Michael Colantone to hand the Vees their first loss since Nov. 5.
Also, with his three assists, PG's Paul De Jersey takes the Brett Hull Trophy with 98 points on the season, two better than Penticton's Joey Benik who had one assist Saturday night.
The Powell River Kings clinched top seed in the Coastal Conference with a 7-0 road win over the Victoria Grizzlies. Teal Burns scored 1:09 into the game and it proved to be all the scoring the Kings would need. Cohen Adair potted a pair of goals 38 seconds apart shortly after Burns' goal. Jonah Imoo made 15 saves for his second BCHL shutout in as many starts.
Cowichan Valley failed to overtake Surrey for second spot despite firing 62 shots at Langley Rivermen goalie James Barr in a 2-1 OT loss at home. Chris Tracy opened the scoring for the Rivermen in the first and Brayden Sherbinin tied it in the third before Mario Puskarich's winner in the first OT.
Malcolm Gould scored a hat trick for the second consecutive game and the Chilliwack Chiefs earned a 5-2 home win over the Westside Warriors. Gould put the Chiefs up 2-0 early in the second with hi second of the game and got his third with less than four minutes to go in the final frame. Chilliwack will finish fourth in the Interior Conference.
The Merritt Centennials scored 2:38 into the game and got the winning goal 46 seconds into the second period in a 5-2 win over the visiting Trail Smoke Eaters. Markers from Payton Schaefer and Brayden Low put the Cents up 2-1 after one and Reece Willcox's goal early in the second was the winner. Brent Baltus and Kyle Horsman had the Smokies' goals.
A five-point night from John Knisley and four assists from Darren Nowick led the Vernon Vipers to a 10-1 road win over the Salmon Arm SilverBacks. Devin Muller's goal at 2:54 of the second was the only goal for the 'Backs. Knisley got his first of two in a three-goal Vipers first. Kirby Halcrow made 26 saves for the win.
