Lieuwen makes the cut with Canada’s U18s

On the heels of an impressive showing at Canada's National Under-18 team selection camp in Calgary, Westside Warriors netminder Nathan Lieuwen has nabbed a spot on the squad that will soon head east to the Czech Republic.

With the roster now finalized, Lieuwen and his teammates have less than 24 hours to squeeze in their first practice, a team photo, and some time with the media before embarking on a flight to Europe. Canada will face the United States and the Czech Republic in exhibition contests before their opening game of the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament against Switzerland on August 12th.

Lieuwen, who posted the best regular season numbers by a BC Hockey League goaltender last season, will split playing time with Sault Ste. Marie Greyhound Bryce O'Hagan.
