Sherwood Park Crusaders forward Jeremy Loranger, Chilliwack Chiefs forward Mateo Mrsic and Cowichan Valley Capitals forward Darius Bachler have been named the FortisBC 3 Stars of the Month.
1st Star – Jeremy Loranger (F) – Sherwood Park Crusaders
Loranger led the BCHIL with 17 points during the month of October, piling up seven goals and 10 assists over nine contests.
The 2007-born forward registered at least a point in every October game, including five multi-point outings. His biggest performance came on Oct. 4 in a home matchup against the Spruce Grove Saints where he collected his first BCHL hat trick and added an assist for a four-point night.
Loranger matched that point total on Oct. 14 at the BCHL Showcase when he put up a goal and three helpers in a 7-3 victory over the Langley Rivermen.
The University of Nebraska-Omaha commit has a point in every game so far this season and currently leads the BCHL with 25 points in 13 contests.
2nd Star – Mateo Mrsic (F) – Chilliwack Chiefs
Mrsic found the back of the net nine times during the month, which was the most in the league over that stretch. He added five assists to finish with 14 points in 10 games.
The 20-year-old scored twice in one game on three separate occasions, while scoring at least once in six of 10 contests in October. His two-goal outings all came in wins – Oct. 12 against the Blackfalds Bulldogs, Oct. 15 against the West Kelowna Warriors and Oct. 25 against the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
Two of Mrsic’s goals game on the power play, one was shorthanded and he also scored the game-winner against the Warriors.
The Colorado College commit has 10 goals on the year, which leads his team and is tied for third most in the BCHL. His 16 points in 14 games put him in the top-10 of league scoring.
3rd Star – Darius Bachler (F) – Cowichan Valley Capitals
Bachler averaged a goal per game in October, burying eight times over eight contests and adding two assists for 10 points during the month.
The third-year BCHLer had a point in seven of eight games in October, scoring a goal in six of them. After registering an assist in the first game of the month, he went on to score in six straight games, finding the back of the net twice on two separate occasions. His first two-goal outing came in a 4-2 win over the Trail Smoke Eaters at the BCHL Showcase in Abbotsford and his second came less than a week later in a 5-2 home win against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
Bachler’s nine goals on the year are tied for fifth most in the BCHL and are the most on his team.
