Merritt’s Valenti commits to St. Scholastica for 2010/11 season

The British Columbia Hockey League's Merritt Centennials are pleased to announce that garduating forward Alex Valenti has committed to the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota and will suit up for the NCAA Division III Saints for the 2010/11 season.

“We are very happy that Alex has ensured that his hockey career will continue beyond his time here in Merritt,” said Cents coach and GM Luke Pierce. “I believe that Alex is an elite player who could be considered a major steal for Saint Scholastica.”

Valenti set career highs in goals and points with the Centennials last season, scoring 17 times and adding 23 assists. The 20-year old spent three seasons in the BCHL split between Nurnaby and Merritt, and he totalled 32 goals and 80 points in 125 career games in the league.

“Alex was a pleasure to coach, and his upbeat personality will bring him success in whatever he chooses to pursue. I want to thank Alex for his time spent here, and I look forward to following his career at the next level.”
