Morley a big helper on Remembrance Day game for Eagles

Tyler Morley set up five of the Surrey Eagles' eight goals in an 8-5 win over the visiting Victoria Grizzlies Friday in a Remembrance Day 3 p.m. start at South Surrey Arena.

Victoria's Jarryd Ten Vaanholt opened the scoring early in the first and the game was tied 3-3 after one. Morley assisted on the first two goals of the second and later was in on Linden Saip's second of the game.

Robert Lindores scored the final goal of the game late in the third for Surrey. Wade Murphy had a goal and an assist for the Grizz to extend his scoring streak to 20 games. He leads the league with 39 points.

In Salmon Arm, the SilverBacks gutted out a 3-2 overtime win over the Westside Warriors with Devin Muller scoring the winner on his second goal of the game. Westside's Reid Simmon's forced the game into OT with a goal late in the third.

A six-goal first period allowed the Penticton Vees to claim a 7-2 road win over the Trail Smoke Eaters. Joey Benik had a two goals and an assist in the first period while Clayton Chessa scored for Trail. Ryan Reilly scored his second of the game early in the second period. Connor Tiechko got a power-play goal in the third for Trail.

Jamie Phillips earned his second shutout of the season for the Powell River Kings as they downed the visiting Nanaimo Clippers 3-0. Matt Scarth's tally early in the first was the winner with Chris Williams and James Neil scoring in the third.

In Alberni Valley, the visiting Coquitlam Express skated to a 6-2 win over the Bulldogs getting four goals in the third including a pair from Taylor Bourne. Malcolm McKinney opened the scoring early in the second and Bourne's first made it 4-0 in the third before Brandon Adams and Mike Puddifant got the 'Dogs goals.

The Merritt Centennials won their fourth straight game in a 7-4 road triumph over the Prince George Spruce Kings. Merritt made it 5-1 midway throught the second on Chad Brears' second of the night but PG rallied with three goals to start the third including two from Paul De Jersey but Regan Soquila and Brayden Low responded late for Merritt.

In Chilliwack, the Chiefs took a 5-3 decision over the Langley Rivermen. David Bondra scored two of his three on the night in the first period but Langley came back to tie it 2-2 early in the third on Ryan Lisowsky's tally. Trevor Hills and Jaret Babych answered for Chilliwack, Darnell Dyck got Langley back within a goal but Bondra's empty-netter sealed it.
