NCAA Roundup: Feb. 16

There are two BCHL alumni to highlight in this week’s NCAA Roundup with a pair of blueliners getting recognized for their outstanding performances last weekend.

ECAC Hockey Defender of the Week

Philippe Chapleau – Junior – St. Lawrence University (Penticton Vees)

Chapleau put together an impressive performance on the blueline for the Saints last week, limiting the Quinnipiac Bobcats to just one goal in Friday’s 4-1 victory. The junior defender recorded two consecutive goals in the third period, including the game-winner on the power play. Chapleau finished the weekend with a plus-one rating.

The Longueuil, Que. native played the 2020-21 pod season with the Penticton Vees, suiting up for all 20 of their games and chipping in two goals, seven assists and nine points as they finished first in the Penticton Pod.

NCHC Defenceman of the Week

Dylan Anhorn – Graduate – St. Cloud State University (Prince George Spruce Kings)

Anhorn was a force at both ends of the ice in St. Cloud’s sweep at Miami last weekend. He scored both game-winning goals, while helping limit the RedHawks to only three goals all series. On Friday, the Huskies captain scored his team’s third goal to make it a 3-1 game in the second period of an eventual 5-2 win. The next night, Anhorn broke a 1-1 tie midway through the third period with a rocket of a shot, as SCSU prevailed 3-1.

The 25-year-old played two BCHL seasons with Prince George, piling up a combined 52 points in 111 regular-season games. He also played a huge role in the Spruce Kings back-to-back trips to the Fred Page Cup Final in 2018 and 2019, totaling 21 points in 41 postseason contests and ultimately winning a league championship in his final season in the league.
