Nine different scorers lead Vipers past Williams Lake

A balanced offensive attack that included nine different goal scorers led the Vernon Vipers to an 11-1 victory over the Williams Lake Timberwolves at the Wesbild Centre.

Patrick McGillis opened the scoring for Vernon at the 2:36 mark of the first period, and recent acquisition David Robinson scored twice before intermission to build a three-goal lead. The Vipers continued to produce in the second period, as markers from Cory Kane, Connor Jones and Curtis Gedig cancelled out a Clayton McEwan tally.

Vernon wrapped up the game with five power-play goals in the third period, as Kane, Kevin Kraus, Rob Short, Braden Pimm and Dylan Walchuk all found the back of the net.

Walchuk, Jones, Short and Robinson all finished the game with three points, while six other Vipers put up two-point performances. Blake Voth picked up the win in goal, stopping 14 shots. Evan Dauenhaur made 37 saves in the loss.

The Vipers are next in action on Wednesday when they take on the BCHL All-Stars in Nanaimo, and return to regular season play against the Clippers two nights later. Williams Lake is idle through the week before meeting the Westside Warriors on Friday.
