Perry, Schell do the damage as Clippers top Burnaby

Joe Perry and Carson Schell continued their early season chemistry for the Nanaimo Clippers, combing on a pair of goals and totalling five points in a 3-1 victory over the visiting Burnaby Express on Friday night.

Perry scored a pair on the night, including the game winner at the 11:55 mark of the first period. Luc Olivier Blain opened the scoring for Nanaimo on an early first period power-play, while the Express's lone goal came from Jon Puskar midway through the second with his team trailing by a 3-0 margin.

Nanaimo limited their opponents to just six shots in the third period, and outshot Burnaby by a 33-27 margin on the evening. Clippers' netminder Loic Boivin was sharp when called upon, turning aside 26 shots in earning his third victory of the season.

At the other end of the ice, Burnaby's Harrison May was kept busy — particularly through the first 40 minutes when he faced 25 shots.

The Express play the second game of a three-game Vancouver Island road swing on Saturday night in Victoria, while the Clippers face that same Grizzlies squad on home ice at 3:00 PM on Sunday.
