The British Columbia Hockey League's Salmon Arm SilverBacks are pleased to announce that graduating defenseman Kyle Peden has committed to attend Portage College and suit up for the Alberta Collleges Athletics Conference's Voyageurs for the 2010/11 season.
Peden joined the SilverBacks at the January trade deadline from the AJHL's Drayton Valley Thunder. He played 16 regular season games and six playoff contests, registering two assists and four penalty minutes.
“This is great opportunity for Kyle,” commented SilverBacks general manager and head coach Rylan Ferster. “He is a person who comes to the rink everyday and gives an honest effort, is a fantastic team guy and does whatever is asked of him. Kyle had some other Division 3 offers but wanted to stay closer to home in Alberta.”
Portage College is located in Lac La Biche and boasts a number of former BCHLers, including blueliners Cody Kightley and Ryan Hill. The SilverBacks Hockey Club would like to congratulate Kyle and his family on his scholarship offer and wish him all the best in the future.
