Spruce Kings alum RJay Berra accepts scholarship to Manhattanville

The Prince George Spruce Kings are pleased to announce that RJay Berra has committed to Manhattanville College and the Valiants men's hockey program. Manhattan College Valiants play out of the NCAA Division III ECAC West Conference.

Berra played 150 games over three seasons with the Prince George Spruce Kings finishing with 58 goals, 47 assists and 42 penalty minutes. In his final year of junior hockey, Berra led all of the BCHL in goals scored prior to the trade deadline. He continued on his high points per game pace with the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In April, Berra played for Team Canada in an International tournament in Russia where he helped an all-BCHL team win Silver.

Along with his contributions on the ice, Berra has been a leader on the team academically and in the community. Berra won the Scholastic Player of the Year Award on back to back years in 2009 and 2010 and has also been recognized for his Outstanding Community Service with the Craig Dziuballe Memorial Award in 2010.

"RJay Berra has been a great ambassador for the game, the Spruce Kings and the City of Prince George," said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. "From an organizational standpoint, it was an honour having a player like RJay play for us. We would like to wish RJay all the best as he continues his hockey career and academic studies at Manhattanville College."
