The Centennials crushed the Spruce Kings 5-1

Jacob Berger came up big, stopping 32 of 33 shots throughout the game. The Merritt Centennials took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from Nicholas Wicks.

Nicholas Wicks chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Zach Court had a busy night with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).

In the first period, Court opened the scoring for Merritt with a goal at 19:23 with helpers from teammates Wicks and Buckley.

In the second, Johnson answered for the Spruce Kings with a goal at 5:49 with helpers from Lee and Ahac. Wicks quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 6:23 with assists from Court and Buckley.

During the third period, Berkopec netted a goal at 1:51 with helpers from Stockie and Schneider. Schneider quickly followed with a goal at 3:41 with assists from his linemates, Van Unen and Stockie. Vincent scored a goal at 8:40 with helpers from Court and Munro.

The Centennials’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Berger’s big night as he stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced. On the other hand, Berger’s counterpart, Debrouwer, and the Spruce Kings’ defense had some trouble stopping only 24 of 29 shots.

This win brings the Merritt Centennials’ record to (3-6-0-0).
