Toor scores OT winner for first BCHL goal as Spruce Kings best Chiefs

In the lone overtime game Friday night in the BCHL, the Prince George Spruce Kings' Karan Toor scored his first BCHL goal to defeat the Chilliwack Chiefs 3-2.

Prince George goals by Michael Colantone to open the scoring in the first and Jujhar Khaira late in the second sandwiched power-play goals by the Chiefs' Kit Sitterley and Derek Huisman.

The third period was scoreless but Toor converted a play set up by Khaira and Ben Woodley to win it.

Jon Jutzi's power-play goal early in the first period proved to be all the scoring Jamie Phillips and the Powell River Kings would need in a 5-0 win over the Langley Rivermen. Phillips made 27 saves to earn his league-leading fourth shutout.

In Merritt, the Cents scored first on Sean Maktaak's goal but the Salmon Arm SilverBacks scored twice in the second and three times in the third including a pair of goals from 1st Star Morgan Zulinick to take a 5-3 decision.

Brandon Tanev scored 23 seconds into the game for the visiting Surrey Eagles and Tyler Morley scored his first of two shortly after that in a 5-2 win over the Victoria Grizzlies. It was 2-1 after one with Jarryd Ten Vaanholt scoring for the Grizz but that was as close as they'd get.

A pair of power-play goals in the first period by Ryan Reilly and Mario Lucia were all the scoring the Penticton Vees needed in a 5-1 win over the visiting Westside Warriors. Max French got the lone Warriors goal early in the third but Reilly capped the scoring with his second of the game after that.

Malcolm McKinney and Brady Shaw each scored hat tricks as the Coquitlam Express downed the Alberni Valley Bulldogs 8-2. The pair combined to score the first five goals of the game and Shaw completed his hat trick in the third. Walker Hyland had both 'Dogs goals in the second period.

A game tied 1-1 after one broke open in the second as the Vernon Vipers scored four times on their way to a 10-1 win over the Trail Smoke Eaters. John Knisley's goal proved to be the winner and Michael Zalewski added his first of two after that. Jedd Soleway opened the scoring and also had a pair while newcomer Ben Gamache had a goal and three helpers.
