Vees captain leads the way in shutout win over Timberwolves

Penticton Vees captain Denver Manderson scored twice and added a pair of assists on Friday evening as his team cruised to an 8-0 victory over the visiting Williams Lake Timberwolves at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Manderon helped open the scoring, setting up linemate Beau Bennett for the lone goal of the first period. Penticton then exploded for four second period tallies, which included power-play efforts from Joey Laleggia and Ryan Viselli. After Logan Johnston continued the Vees' assault early in the third period, Manderson added two goals of his own to round out the scoring.

Bennett assisted twice and finished the night with three points, while Johnston was the Vees' only other multi-point player with a goal and an assist.

Joel Rumpel faced all 12 shots he faced for the shutout. Timberwolves netminder Sean Donnelly was considerably busier on the evening, making 49 saves while allowing eight goals.

Williama Lake faces another stiff challenge on Saturday night with a visit to Vernon, while Penticton remains on home ice in anticipation of a visit from the Quesnel Millionaires.
