Jonathan Desbiens scored the game-winner and added an assist as the West Kelowna Warriors defeated the Carleton Place Canadians 4-1 Wednesday afternoon at the RBC Cup.
Quin Foreman opened the scoring in the first and Desbiens’ tally in the second proved to be all the support needed. Matthew Greenfield made 19 saves in his return to the crease for the win.
Owen Grant got the lone Canadians tally, late in the second, to get them within one heading to the third. But in the final frame, Liam Blackburn scored an insurance marker with Bryan Basilico adding an empty-netter.
West Kelowna finishes the round-robin portion of the tournament with three wins (one via shootout) and a loss. The Warriors are currently atop the standings though two games will be played tomorrow. The possibility still exists that either Brooks or Trenton could overtake West Kelowna for first place.
