Williams Lake’s Stanimir commits to Alabama-Huntsville

The British Columbia Hockey League's Williams Lake Timberwolves are pleased to announce that forward Ryan Stanimir has committed to attend the University of Alabama-Huntsville and suit up for the NCAA Division I Chargers this fall.

Stanimir was the Timberwolves' leading scorer during their first season back in the league, as the West Vancouver, B.C. product scored 27 goals and 54 points in 58 games. The 20-year old also had stints in Burnaby, Cowichan Valley, Quesnel and Merritt prior to joining Williams Lake and totaled 31 goals and 65 points in 112 BCHL games.

Stanimir is the third current BCHL player to commit to the Chargers for the 2010/11 campaign. He joins Langley Chiefs captain Mac Roy and Victoria Grizzlies forward Alex Allan with the College Hockey America conference champions. Alabama-Huntsville made their first NCAA Tournament appearance this March, losing out to eventual Frozen Four semi-finalists Miami of Ohio.

UAH already features a foursome of BCHL grads returning in the fall. Former Burnaby Express forward Cody Campbell and Vernon Vipers counterpart Andrew Coburn tied for the team scoring lead with 22 points each, while a pair of Salmon Arm SilverBacks alumni, freshmen Keenan Desmet and Justin Cseter, enjoyed tremendous first NCAA seasons with 14 and 13 points respectively.
