Brothers MacMillan combine for seven points in win over Warriors

Saturday night's game went sour in a hurry and didn’t get any better later on for the Westside Warriors, who dropped an 8-1 decision on the road to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs scored a pair of goals early and piled on in the second and third, scoring five times on the power play and adding shorthanded marker by Matt Hatch.

The Bulldogs line of Mitch MacMillan, younger brother Mark, and David Dziurzynski combined for 10 points on the night, with Mitch MacMillian picking up the natural hat trick with three straight goals. His first came 5:29 into the first and the other two came midway through the second period. At the end of two periods, the Bulldogs led 5-0 despite being even on shots on goal at 20 a piece.

Max French, on a quick wraparound in the third period, scored the only goal for the Warriors.

Cam Gorchynski replaced Kevin Jepson in the Warriors goal for the third period and allowed three goals on 18 shots, while Frank Slubowski made 29 saves for the victory in the Bulldogs' net.

Both teams are back in action on Sunday, as the Warriors complete their four-game Coastal road trip with a trip to Cowichan Valley. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs remain on home ice to host the Penticton Vees.
