Coquitlam’s Pam Ditchburn named November Volunteer of the Month, presented by Rogers

The BCHL announced today that Coquitlam Express volunteer Pam Ditchburn has been named the November Volunteer of the Month, presented by Rogers.

Each month during the season, the BCHL will recognize one team volunteer whose dedication to their organization and their community goes above and beyond.

Ditchburn has volunteered with the Express since 2012 as their merchandise manager and has also been a billet mom in the past.

“I enjoy giving back and being part of a team,” she said. “For me, this is an extended family.”

“It’s an honour to be recognized for this award. I was very surprised and humbled. I don’t do anything for the recognition. I do it because I enjoy doing it and I want to give back.”

Ditchburn’s influence on the team goes beyond just the merchandise. In recent years, she started selling bags of candy in the merchandise room to raise money for the team.

“We gathered enough funds so that my husband and I were able to host a steak and chicken barbeque this year,” said Ditchburn. “I think it was a huge success and I think that [the players] also enjoyed it.”

“Without someone like Pam, junior hockey does not exist,” said Express General Manager Tali Campbell. “The countless hours she spends to make our program better – I couldn’t say thank you enough for everything she’s done.”

“She’s definitely a cornerstone of our program.”
