Cruikshank earns NCHC rookie honour

Former Penticton Vees captain and current Colorado College Tigers forward Grant Cruikshank has been named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Rookie of the Week.

In his college hockey debut on Saturday, the 20-year-old from Delafield, Wisc. had a goal and an assist in the Tigers 10-2 win at Alaska Anchorage. In the rematch the following day, he added another assist in a 4-3 loss to give himself a three-point weekend.

Cruikshank spent two seasons in Penticton, scoring 43 goals and adding 31 assists for 74 points in 82 career regular-season games. He also put up 12 points in 21 playoff games during the Vees Fred Page Cup championship season in 2016-17.

He was named team captain for Penticton last year, but unfortunately had his season cut short after 25 games due to an ankle injury.

Next up for Cruikshank and Colorado College is their home opener on Friday against Alabama Huntsville and a home date with Air Force the following night.
