de Jong commits to Quinnipiac

Hitting the scoresheet in four of six games so far this season for the Prince George Spruce Kings forward Ethan de Jong is showing he’ll continue displaying the offensive flair he did prior to the BCHL.

And that promise has landed him the chance to play NCAA Div. I hockey at Quinnipiac University. De Jong has inked a deal to attend the Hamden, Conn. based school starting with the 2019-20 season.

A native of North Vancouver, de Jong has 3-5-8 so far this season which leads the Spruce Kings. He posted 5-25-30 in 43 games last season and was a big point producer with the Burnaby Winter Club before becoming a full-time BCHLer.

Quinnipiac has been an active recruiter in the BCHL over the last 15 years and last season had 10 alums on their roster. In the coming season, the Bobcats will feature BCHL grads Thomas Aldworth, Matt Creamer, Scott Davidson, Nick Jermain, Craig Martin, Logan Mick, Bo Pieper, Chase Priskie, Luke Shiplo, Andrew Shortridge Landon Smith, and Odeen Tufto.

The Bobcats are coached by Rand Pecknold and the team competes in the ECAC Hockey conference along with RPI, Harvard, Princeton, St. Lawrence, Clarkson, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell, Yale and Colgate.
