Salmon Arm’s Lipsett commits to St. Scholastica for 2010/11

The British Columbia Hockey League's Salmon Arm SilverBacks are pleased to announce that graduating team captain Bobby Lipsett has committed to attend the College of St. Scholastica and suit up for the NCAA Division III Saints for the 2009/10 season.

Lipsett, a Salmon Arm native and local minor hockey product, is the only player to be a member of the SilverBacks for four consecutive seasons. He was also the first-ever Salmon Arm captain in the club’s nine year history. Over four combined regular and playoff seasons, Bobby recorded 29 goals and 44 assists in 233 games.

“Bobby is a heart-and-soul player,” says SilverBacks head coach and GM Rylan Ferster. “He was a great leader and brought it to the rink every night. He is the type of player that every team wishes they had more of.”

Lipsett earned a number of team awards during his tenure with the SilverBacks. During his rookie season, he was recognized as the team's Top Academic Player and Most Improved Player. After the 2008/09 season, Lipsett took home the Hitman and Most Dedicated Player trophies. Four awards seemed fitting after Bobby’s fourth season. as he collected the Most Dedicated, Top Academic, Fan Favourite and Playoff Performer Awards.

“I want to thank Bobby for his time and dedication to the club over the past four years and I wish him continued success success in academics and college hockey,” said team owner Randy Williams.
