SilverBacks pile on late in shutout win over Quesnel

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks bounced back from a Friday night loss in Williams Lake, blanking the Quesnel Millionaires by a 5-0 margin to draw back even on their three-game Northern road swing.

The game remained scoreless until the 13:44 mark of the second period when David Killip put Salmon Arm on the board with a power-play tally. The SilverBacks took a one-goal lead into the third, but then exploded for four goals over a 12-minute stretch to finish off the Mills.

Tyler Gubb, Greg Noyes, Faiz Khan and Corey Chakeen did the damage in the final period, with Killip, Gubb, Chakeen and Mark Zengerle all picking up two points on the night.

Tony Ierfino was perfect in net for the SilverBacks, turning aside all 34 shots sent his way. Meanwhile, Kirby Halcrow made 29 saves in a losing effort.

Salmon Arm completes their weekend road trip in Prince George on Sunday, while the Millionaires await a visit from the Spruce Kings on Friday.
