Spruce Kings and T-Wolves fit to be tied after 3rd period comeback

The Williams Lake Timberwolves had to fight back from two goals down entering the third period, but some resiliency in the final 20 minutes of regulation led to hard-earned point in a 3-3 tie with the Prince George Spruce Kings.

Prince George opened the scoring at the 14:04 mark of the first period on a power-play marker by Zac Rasmussen, and added to their lead early in the second on a Joe Morgan tally. The teams then traded goals, with a Williams Lake score by Jason Diehl answered by the Spruce Kings' Nick DeSousa just over a minute later.

The Timberwolves' third period comeback was started by Cameron Hoffman at the 4:38 mark and completed four minutes later on a power-play effort by Riley Sweeney. Prince George fired seven shots at Williams Lake netminder Sean Donnelly in overtime, but settled for an eventual tie.

Donnelly was named the game's first star after a 30-save performance, while Prince George's Steve Papciak turned aside 28 shots in the loss.

Both teams are now idle until Friday, when the Timberwolves host the Trail Smoke Eaters and Prince George makes the short trip to Quesnel to face the Millionaires.
